Entrance Criteria
The following criteria are considered guidelines for admission (non-Glacier Hills residents) to the Glacier Hills' Assisted Living program:
Mobility
- Independently mobile (able to perform the activity without another person present with or without adaptive equipment) to or from the Assisted Living dining room for all meals
- Transfer independently on and off the toilet, to and from a chair, bed etc. on a consistent basis throughout a 24-hour day as needed
Dining
- Independent in feeding, although staff will provide personalized set up (placement of objects or adapting the environment)
Dressing
- Residents are expected to wear street clothes daily. They must be able to dress and undress themselves, only requiring set up for daily dressing/undressing and minimal verbal direction by another person. Personal assistance will be given if needed with support hose and assistive devices
Hygiene
- Toileting - Be independent in toileting with appropriate hygiene. If incontinence products are used, resident must be independent and appropriate with their use. This includes self-catheterization, ostomies, and indwelling catheters.
- Tub Bath and Shower - It is expected that the resident will maintain proper hygiene. Minimal assistance (including hair washing) will be given with showering and tub bathing.
- Grooming – The resident should be independent with shaving, make-up, and oral hygiene, including the washing of hands, face and private areas. The resident should be able to comb hair independently.
Cognitive
- The resident must be oriented to person and place, able to follow immediate two-step direction, and able to adapt to the routine of the Assisted Living program.
